Hello world! My name is Matt Relevo and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful Borough of Queens, New York.

I’m a Long Island native, now based in Queens, New York. Music has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents were both part of a church choir — my dad played guitar, and my mom was one of the lead vocalists. Watching them growing up, I think that’s where my love for music really started. It felt natural, like something that was always meant to be a part of me. I started songwriting back in high school, and it quickly became more than just a hobby — it became my outlet. I’ve been surrounded by so many genres over the years — pop, R&B, rock, hip-hop — and I feel like all those influences have found their way into my music. Each one shaped a different part of my sound and who I am as an artist. I’ve been through a lot to get here, and I feel like it’s finally time to step out and show the world the artist I’ve become. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson  in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Better,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Better” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

Music has always meant a lot to me. Growing up, I used to feel like I was on my own most of the time, like I didn’t really fit anywhere. But music became my safe space — the one place where I could be myself and actually make sense of what I was feeling. There were moments when I let the doubts and negative voices in my head take over, convincing me I wouldn’t make it. I’d hide behind my guitar and my songs, using them to let out everything I couldn’t say out loud. Even through all that, music was what kept me grounded. It reminded me of who I am and why I keep going.

Over time, I realized something really powerful — music doesn’t just heal me, it brings people together. There’s something about it that connects us, even when we’ve never met. It can make someone feel understood, seen, and not so alone. That’s the part I fell in love with — how something so personal can turn into something that means so much to other people. That’s what I want my music to do: to spread love, hope, and comfort to anyone who’s ever felt the way I have.

This project means everything to me because it’s more than just another release — it’s a new chapter. I’ve spent years recording and putting out music from my bedroom, just trying to figure things out and build something from the ground up. Now I’m ready to take it to the next level — to really share my sound with the world, to show what I can do, and to keep creating music that connects people. That’s always been the dream — to make something real that brings people together, the same way music has always done for me..
