Hello world! My name is Warick Pond, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Phoenix, Arizona.

Music is a time machine. It transports us to moments in our lives where we don't just remember what happened but also what we felt at the time. Songwriting for me was something I started at a young age. I would escape in music. I moved to the United States from Germany. It felt lonesome. I didn't fit in New Jersey. As a child I wanted to go back to what was. Music was an equalizer that keeps me authentic to who I am and my feelings. Since being a child, I have experienced this life- all the laughs, sickness, cries, hugs and kisses it offers. When you lose everything- health, job, family... you have to dig in to create a future that is unknown. Tough times have required tenacity and I empathize with anyone who has suffered or currently does. We all have been through "it". Music is my outlet to give a gentle outpour of visceral emotion through my Americana-tinted vocal timbre. My music captures the enduring loneliness of the human condition and how tightly we cling to connections which can turn to past tense in the blink of an eye.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Max Challis in Boston, MA. Max is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Max and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Love Me Tonight,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Love Me Tonight" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Max and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

Can you think of a band that you "discovered"? For me it was Coldplay. A friend had sent me their CD from Europe before it was released in the United States. I remember feeling part of their beginning. Watching them develop themselves as a band and a fanbase. That is where I am at today. I am playing gigs recording in my home studio but there are markets I haven't been able to reach or play. Being able to create my first/new studio album would be a game changer for me as a musician. Your support will help me continue to grow my fanbase, play bigger and better shows, and reach the next level as an artist. I'd love to take you along this journey- just like Coldplay took me on theirs.
