Hello world! My name is Adam Hurley, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in Eureka, CA.

I have been performing in small venues from Humboldt County to Nevada and even Washington over the past several years. The next step for me is to offer a better medium to share my songs with my community and beyond, even after the show’s over. You’ve all asked me for recordings to capture the moment when you were on a first date, an anniversary, the first night out you’ve had in years because you finally found a babysitter. I’m inspired by the fact that my community wants to recreate those moments through listening to my songs. This project will allow me to deliver that to my listeners and begin making music my way of life.

The material is ready, the musicians are waiting--this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first-ever professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson, a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

I’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Little Bird,” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund the recording process for "Little Bird" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio time costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture, and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Some say that music heals. In my personal experience, music put me back together. As much as it has always meant to me, it wasn’t until I went through a horrible time of disarray in my life that I felt the depth of its abilities. I leaned strongly on my faith to do all the healing, but music was responsible for bringing me back. Even at its darkest, each day was bright with music. The writing, creating, and inspiration in every song acted as building blocks to rebuild who I was and convince me that life still had so much to offer.

Music is a tool I use to teach my two young daughters about self-confidence and the importance of dreaming. I want those girls to believe in themselves and to walk through life unafraid to chase their biggest most far fetched dreams. Because they are only far fetched to someone else. Music shares the same truth. Some music is way out there. Weird lyrics, weird tones, silly sounds, stories that make no sense. But they made sense to someone at least once and a listener may never know what that far fetched story did for that person’s life. 

This chance to share my stories with unlimited ears is huge. Just for that chance, I am thankful.
