Hello world! My name is Amy Sprague, also known as Arennn, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Columbus, OH.

 I’ve been surrounded by and immersed in music as long as I can remember. Since the age of 4, I knew that my all-time dream was to perform and embrace the stage. For many years, I explored different performance endeavors including musicals, choir, voice lessons, dance classes, and karaoke nights. But there was always a piece missing–songwriting– that is until I decided to take a pen to a notebook and come up with a story to tell.  All the experiences I’ve had have led me to this moment, and my music career could change for the better and take my life somewhere I’ve always wanted it to go but never thought I would be able to.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Mourning in the Sand,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Mourning in the Sand” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Carter and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life. All I’ve ever wanted is connection and to be seen and felt heard, and I get to do that through songwriting, performing, and telling my stories. 

My life with music wouldn’t be the same without the people who have encouraged me to perform and embrace my talents. From choir and theater teachers who saw my potential enough to give me solos and leads even when I didn’t think I had the potential to, to eventually gaining the confidence to sing in front of crowds, write songs, and believe in myself and my talents, my journey with music has been a long and winding road with ups, downs, and slippery slopes, but having the people in my life who want to me to succeed and have only wished me the best and have never given up on me, has encouraged me, even more, to believe in myself. Music has gotten me through so many things and is honestly a source of therapy for me and a way for me to get my thoughts out of my head and onto paper. It helped me get through one of the darkest times in my life and helped me realize the potential I never thought I possessed. Listening to music helped me feel connected to others and embrace a sense of humanity. There’s something so freeing about being vulnerable through lyrics, and I hope can inspire others to do the same and embrace their creativity and talents.

I’ve done many projects involving arts management, fashion, dance, entrepreneurship, and music, including getting accepted into a music program where I spent two weeks in LA collaborating and collectively producing a song with many talented musicians letting our creative ideas come to life! When I was immersed with these musicians, which was truly one of the best moments of my life, I realized it’s where I belong, that creating music is still my biggest dream, and that I truly do have the potential to make it happen. With this campaign, I would be able to bring even more ideas to life and create something that I would be proud of more than anything I’ve ever done before. This project will help inspire me to make more music, believe in myself more, and perform my art live later in the future for those who feel compelled/ want to listen to what I have to say in song form.
