Hello world! We are The Jacob Akana Band, a band in the beautiful city of Redding, California.

The members of The Jacob Akana Band met while playing in other projects and bands. In 2020, Jacob Akana (Vocals, Lead Guitar) began writing and recording original music in his parents garage. In 2022, there a distinct moment in his solo artist career where he knew it was time to grow and begin performing with a band. To fulfill this, He asked Daniel Iwasaki (Drums) and Dairrien Call (Bass) to start performing some of his originals with him. In the coming months, Jacob realized it was time to add in another guitar player. The band agreed that Daniel Hill, a local solo artist and performer, was the perfect fit. Today, they perform Akana’s Originals along the West Coast as a Four Piece, The Jacob Akana Band.

This past year has been so amazing for The Jacob Akana Band. Their calendar has been jam packed with shows and events. All that excitement has sparked new material, which they have been working on. Now it is time to record it and share it with you but first, they need your help.

We've got a collection of great songs ready to record -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever, professionally produced studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded EP with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we’re digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “A New Line,” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund the recording process for "A New Line" on our own, to create an EP of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of our project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. We’ll start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the EP, hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements, and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this EP. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the EP will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

All of the members have loved music from a young age, growing up playing in orchestra, jazz bands, and performing in community theater only convinced them more and more that they wanted a life in music. They all have been working towards a professional music career from a young age and the fact that they have been able to compose, record and now, share an EP is making them work even harder. 

Currently, all of us are working full time jobs while also trying to attain this goal of eventually making a living from recording and performing together. The success of this campaign would mean the world to us. We’ve always dreamt of music as a career, rather than just a hobby, and the success of this campaign would be a huge step in helping that dream come true.
