Hi, my name is Paige or you may know me as Raggedy. I'm a musical artist from Asheville, North Carolina and this is my Plaid Dog Crowdfunding Campaign for my debut studio EP.

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a musician. I remember being six years old and locking myself in my bedroom for hours perfecting the performance of each song on my 60’s Dance Party cassette tape. I studied the lyrics and what they meant. I created stories and lost myself in the magic.

I began writing my own song lyrics when I was 8 years old. I could hear every instrument in my head, the swells of chorus and the soul behind the melody. I finally began learning guitar at 15, but the thought of sharing my songs with others terrified me. I write music to heal my heart and sooth my soul and I couldn’t bare being so vulnerable. What if no one understands? What if people hate it? What if they think I’m a joke?

It wasn’t until 15 years later when I played my first open mic and began my journey as a musical artist: The year I earned my Masters degree in Theatre Studies, I lived in a 3 story walkup in Brooklyn, and I broke my leg. Without the ability to work for 5 weeks, I bought a recording mic and started sharing my music for the very first time, and I finally stopped letting fear stand in the way of pursuing my truest passion.

It’s difficult to fathom how much I’ve grown as an artist since then. I’ve been able to perform in Brooklyn and all over Asheville, and I’ve spent countless hours dreaming of being in a recording studio with professional recording engineers.

There is nothing I love more than creating and playing music, I’ve dreamed of sharing these songs, and I am beyond ready to take this next big step– but first, I need your help.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded EP with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Nightmare,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Nightmare" on my own, to create an EP of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Ryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the EP. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this EP. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the EP will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.
