Hi world! I'm Arletis, and I'm a singer, songwriter and recording artist from New York City currently living in Münster, Germany.

I always loved music. As a child I was always creative, but I always found a peace and the feeling of completely losing myself in music that out-did any other creative outlet. I realized my abilities in singing when at a very young age I’d sing ballads for my family and friends. From Whitney Houston to Luis Miguel, I belted out romantic songs in both English and Spanish. They loved it and always asked for more which helped build my confidence in the craft.

Songwriting became a way for me to cope with some tough emotions throughout my teenage years. I picked up the guitar and started writing songs as well as experimenting at a small studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

At 18, I was offered a major record deal with Aventura’s management team. I turned it down and really had my heart set on crafting my own sound. Life happened and I had to put music on hold. Fast-forward to 2016, finding myself unfulfilled in my purpose, so I applied to Berklee College of Music in Valencia. I got accepted, graduated with a Master in Music degree, moved to Berlin to start my career, and never looked back. 

Through my journey in music, at Berklee, and navigating the Berlin scene, I relied on music to get me through some very lonely and challenging times in my life. I know that if I wasn't able to create music, I might not be here today.

Over the past few years, the more I created, the more I fell in love with the process. The process has changed and evolved me as a person and as a musician, and it excites me to create music as a service to my communities and to anyone who enjoys and benefits from it in the same way other artists have inspired me.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my next studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for my stuido EP with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. It's called “Surface”. You can check it out below.

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Surface" on my own, to create an EP of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. This campaign gives us an opportunity to collaborate and make quality music together. Your donation will cover the following costs:

1. Pre-Production: Where everything starts. Ryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the EP. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on the EP. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to record great performances for every musician.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color. The EP will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.
