Overview

Hello world! My name is Daniel Carbone, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Houston, Texas.

Growing up, I always kept music at the center of my life. My grandparents taught me how to play piano and guitar at an early age, and my brothers could vouch that I would sing nonstop no matter how annoying it was. Learning these skills, I’ve come to realize, was only a means to an end as I started writing music to cope with my many thoughts and feelings.

Then the summer before high school I wrote and recorded a two-track song on my Line 6 amp, and my mom happened to overhear. That was probably the first time she realized I wrote my own music. So my parents started supporting my musical endeavors; they booked shows for my band, Restless November, which ignited my love for performing, and my mom even helped me record and mix my first few songs. Then it kind of just snowballed from there.

As I continued writing music, I began finding an interest in music production as a whole and pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Sound Recording Technology at SFASU. During my time in undergrad, I released two EP’s as a solo artist as well as a full-length album with my band, Crosstalk.

However, when I graduated college at the height of the pandemic, I had to shift my focus to pursuing work outside of the music industry. Since then, it’s been a challenge finding the time and resources to write, record, mix, and produce my songs to their full potential all on my own, nonetheless. I figured it’s time for a change.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my upcoming professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Afterglow,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Afterglow" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Ryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Making music has been the biggest passion of my life, and I believe this is a step in the right direction for my career as a musician. This project is the culmination of years of writing and workshopping these songs to create an album that both you and I can enjoy. I want more than anything to be able to share it with you.
