Hello world! My name is Semajj the Muse and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Dallas, TX.

I've been making music and performing for as long as I can remember—learning the emotional power of song in church, blending gospel harmonies with jazz improvisation, and finding my voice through R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop. From intimate jam sessions with friends to commanding the stage, every note has been a part of my evolution. My music is a fusion of all these experiences, a soundtrack of love, loss, joy, and everything in between. Now, after pouring everything I've lived into storytelling and song, the only thing left is to share the sounds in my head and heart with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher  in Boston, MA. Ryan is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together,  and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Sweet,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Sweet” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

This project is about healing—together.

Music has always been a source of healing for me, a way to process emotions, bridge distances, and bring people closer. It has the power to unite us in ways that words alone cannot. For the first time, I feel ready to offer my music to my city and my community as part of that greater, collective healing.

Music is never a solo journey. It’s the voices that have shaped me—the gospel harmonies of my childhood, the jazz and soul that taught me to improvise, the friends and collaborators who have challenged me to grow. It’s the family who gave me a deep appreciation for sound, the community that has supported me, and the people who have listened, even when I was still figuring things out. This project is about creating space for those connections to expand, for new collaborations to form, and for us to share in something greater than ourselves.

I’ve never embarked on a project of this scale before, but I’ve spent my life preparing for it. Every song I’ve written, every note I’ve sung, every lesson I’ve learned—it’s all led to this moment. With your support, I can transform that experience into something powerful, something beautiful, something that we create—and heal through—together.
