Hello world! We are Bur, a band here in the beautiful city of Chicago, Illinois.

If you are reading this, you already know that Bur is the greatest band of all time. However, like most great things, we had to start at the bottom. Bur was formed in 2016 and had gone through several lineup changes before being the supergroup you now know and love. The road to our greatness was not easy but it was obviously certain.

We've put out one EP and two LPs that we recorded on our own but it is now time for us to share our magic with a professional studio. It is now up to each and every one of you to help in giving the gift that is our music to a larger audience.

It’s no shocker that the music we are working on now is excellent. For many years, we’ve selfishly kept our music to ourselves, our families, and friends as we were not sure the world could handle it. But after many years of deep contemplation, we feel the world is now ready for us and to  help us grow our audience.

We've got a collection of great songs ready to record -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we’re digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “{Name of Song},” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund the recording process for "{Name of Song}" on our own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of the project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. We’ll start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album, hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements, and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

We’ve finally found a company and producer that we feel are experienced and skilled enough to deliver Bur the way it’s always been intended. The only way we feel it appropriate to deliver our music to a larger audience is with the highest fidelity and meticulous mixing that only Plaid Dog Recording’s Mike Davidson could capture. But his talent comes with a price that only you can help pay.

Our families and friends have all been very respectful and patient with our wish to only unleash the beast that is our music when we felt the world was ready. Without their constant support in this decision, Bur would have been delivered to the world prematurely, ruining our legacy and stealing our gift of music to the world.
