Hello world! My name is Violeta de la Guardia, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Miami, Florida.

I've spent 10 years playing my songs, and 5 years playing shows in the music scene across Florida. I've been lucky enough to have been taken under the wing of established local musicians of South Florida. Though I am shy to a fault, they still managed to crack me open and get me comfortable with being in front of an audience. They taught me how to play an array of genres from southern rock, pop rock, to funk and ballads. Now that I'm past my teenage years and members of the band relocated, I play local shows with people of my age group. Slowly but surely I found the confidence to play my own tunes to strangers and friends. I'm still too shy to play my own music for my mentors, but I want to make them proud and create something professional for them to listen to. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Look,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Look" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life. 

To debut myself musically is very sensitive and personal to me, but, that’s precisely what art is about. An artist must wear their heart on their sleeve and sacrifice their reservations for a higher purpose-- to heal and unite. It's not easy for me to be so expressive with how I feel, but music gives me the ability to put any emotion into words and sounds. I decided to pursue this art form because when I was at my lowest, I could turn to songs and albums that allowed me to stop hiding from myself and work through what I’m feeling rather than ignore them. I want people to experience the same kind of revelations when they listen to my songs. With the patience to listen, music can change anyone's perception. Experiencing another person's mind and world is what makes life so exciting.

My songs are my way of life. Every day I stop and think about how lucky I am that I have great friends and family who want to support my truth. The vibrant encouragement I’ve receive humbles me and pushes me to create something substantial that you will love. Putting out this music will be a significant step that I need in order to whole-heartedly commit to my art and embrace my vision for my music career and future.
