Hello world! We are Luna & Ursus, a duo here in the Cosmic Hamlet of Homer, Alaska.

Our story began just before the end of 2020 when we were both invited to play at a winter solstice concert. Our musical and personal connections seemed to have a familiar ring right from the beginning, and we knew we had a definite creative spark. We have both had our share of struggles with self-criticism, and doubt, but we have found in each other a person who truly believes in us, and someone who knows we are worthy of happiness and success. 

We've made a few DIY recordings in the past, but this would be our first time recording in a professional studio. Over the past year, we have learned and grown so much, both as musicians and as human beings, and we are committed to continuing this journey of becoming. The opportunity to record a professional album would be the culmination of all the time, love, and energy we have invested into our craft, as well as the chance to begin a new chapter in our story. With the support of wonderful people like you we can make this dream into a reality, and inspire others to do the same.

We are so excited about the new songs we’ve been creating and we’re  fully ready to embrace this next step, but before we embark, we need your help. We've got a collection of great songs ready to record -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we’re digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring these songs to life. 

With the help of friends and family we’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Home,” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund the recording process for "Home", to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of the project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. We’ll start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album, hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements, and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

A well-recorded album would open a lot of doors for our group in terms of future opportunities, namely in securing larger venues and acquiring a wider listenership. We've made demo quality recordings in the past, but the world deserves only the best we can give: a professionally recorded, high-quality album that sounds the way we always knew our music could sound. For those reasons and more, this project is critical to our future growth as performers. You have the power to help us make this project a reality!
