Hello world! My name is Alicia, and I'm a professional musician here in the beautiful city of Denver, Colorado.

I’ve been making music and performing my entire life, from singing in my parents’ kids choir at age 2, to piano lessons at age 4, to competing in accordion competitions from age 7. I’m a classically trained musician, but I’ve been exploring other musical genres in my adulthood. I’ve always loved French jazz, and have been diving deeper into this genre for the past couple years. I’m now thrilled to announce that I’ve been writing my first album of original music inspired by this adorable genre, and I’m beyond ready to share my new songs with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Doin’Just Fine,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Tout Va Bien" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project means to me.

Music is a collective process, which plays a more important role now more than ever before. I have so many people to thank, like my incredible musician friends that have pushed me to be better, my family for giving me all of the lessons and encouragement I needed to keep studying and practicing, and my adorable husband for contributing his beautiful lyrics and making up silly songs with me around the clock. Music is about community and connection, and I have been supported and surrounded by the best people a girl could hope for.  

For me, music has played a very healing role in my hardest times. Choosing the path of a career musician comes with a lot of struggles. There’s not always a clear path to “success,” and can be an emotional roller-coaster at times.  Despite these struggles, my mission in life is to spread joy through music. This is the positive mantra I return to whenever I feel frustrated, undervalued, or without purpose.  

Now, for the first time, I’m going to share an entire project of my own original music, and it fills me with so much excitement and anticipation. While I've never recorded an album of this caliber before, I have been expanding my sound and strengthening my self-confidence for years. With your support, I will channel that consistent work and experience into something new and beautiful that we’ll have made together.
