Hello world! My name is Julia Aronovich and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Boston, MA.

My first contact with playing music was through a big Brazilian folk musician, Gabriel Sater. His dad, Almir Sater, is one of the biggest names when it comes to the origins of folk music in Brazil. With this insane privilege of learning from the greatest, I started writing music when I moved to the US when I was 14. Still adapting to the language and culture, and with a lot of time to myself and not many friends, I found in music a confidant, and really the only way I could make sense of my feelings. Music helped me discover who I am today, it completely changed the way I see myself and the world, and I really would not be the same without it. From writing about some of the hardest times of my life to falling in love, music has been a much needed constant in my life.

Every song I’ve written so far has been a part of my story, and now it's time to share that story with you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Roam,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Roam” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

I’ve been feeling stuck when it comes to putting my music into the world. I’ve always wanted this specific collection of songs that will be a part of the EP to be together, symbolizing a period of my life which I thought deserved its own special place. But things haven’t “clicked” for me — until now. The success of this campaign, undoubtedly thanks to all of you, would mean having a home for these songs that are so very special to me. I’ve always wanted my music to touch people in some way, and maybe, just maybe, touch someone deep enough to help them, even just a little. Making music can be a lonely process, and having people who care enough about my music and my artistry to donate any amount of money so I can pursue my dreams is so incredibly special, and a much needed validation to be honest.

To me, music is friendship, collaboration. It is a dream to get to write, play, record and learn from some of my best friends and the most incredible musicians I`ve had the pleasure to meet. These professional recordings of my songs could open so many doors, from potential labels, performance venues, new collaborators, reaching more and more people who relate to my songs.

This is the biggest project I`ve ever embarked on. Your support for my campaign would mean the world to me. Like I said before, writing music can be a lonely process, and sometimes I lose sight of the humanness in all of it. Seeing people who care enough to help my project come to life gives me the motivation to keep going
