Hello world! My name is Isabel March, and I'm a singer-songwriter from Virginia, living here in the beautiful city of Boston.

Music has always been a driving force in my life—including long before I even knew it. When I was little, I made songs in my head and sang with my mom in the car. At 17, I wrote my first real song, which was the moment I found faith in myself and my music. Since then, I’ve created and shared music with a million people in a million places—from a front porch in Virginia to a dorm room in North Carolina, an artist residency in Colombia and a jazz club in Spain—wherever I am, I write. I cherish each and every one of those experiences and the songs that they’ve inspired.

What I have now is a life’s worth of songs that I have written and saved for this project.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Do You Love Me,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Do You Love Me" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It’s hard to express how much this project would change my life.

It’s been eight years since the first time I ever performed in public. From the very start, people like you have been so supportive. As I’ve continued to share my music with the world, the belief you’ve expressed in me has taught me to believe in myself. I am here now to bring this dream to life.

Everyone has their own gift to give. If we do so, I fundamentally believe that it makes the world an even more fascinating and wonderful place. Though for many years I was distracted by the day-to-day demands of life, when I got sick with Lyme disease, my life slowed down and gave me the chance to reflect on the bigger picture. What was unique to me, and what I believe is my duty to share, is my music. Making this album is my way of fulfilling that duty.

Professionally, with this album I hope to launch a career in music. I have extensive experience performing and writing, and I believe in my music (as I hope you do too). With professional recordings available of these songs, I’ll be able to reach a significantly larger audience through streaming services, playlists, and algorithms. What is more, when I have a finished project to present to venues and booking agents, I’ll find more opportunities to grow, book better gigs, and share music with even more of you.  

Everything I’ve done, I owe to you. You are the people who’ve inspired my songs, who’ve listened, and who’ve believed in me. My musical journey has never been a solo one. On every stop of the way, there have been family, friends, and strangers (who, as Yeats said, are merely friends we haven’t met yet). As I see it, making my music accessible to friends near and far is my way of paying you back for all the love and support you’ve shown me over the years. I am so excited and ready to begin.
