Hello, world! My name is Daniel Habib, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Winston-Salem, NC.

Ever since I started playing guitar as a teenager, I’ve been writing and performing music. I’ve performed all over North Carolina and the east coast playing my own music and also in cover bands. Now that I’m armed with some brand new material, I’m ready to share it with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my new professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA.

Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

I wanted to share a taste of this record with you all, so back in March, I met up with Mike at his studio to record my first single, “Can’t Be Seen.” After we laid down the drums, Mike came down with a nasty case of the flu and we had to hit pause. As soon I got home, I started making plans to return to Boston and finish the single, but then coronavirus hit. Needless to say, I haven’t made it back to Boston yet, but I will, and it will be worth the wait!

In the meantime, Mike helped me finish a demo of “Can’t Be Seen,” remotely, with me here in North Carolina, and Mike in Boston. Using the drums we recorded in Mike’s studio, I added guitars, bass, and vocals in my friend’s rehearsal space with Mike’s guidance. You can check out the demo below for free!

This demo will give you a good feel for what this album will be like if this campaign reaches its goal. If we’re successful, I’ll be able to get back in the studio with Mike to record the rest of the album, and create a fully produced version of this first single, “Can’t Be Seen.” I’m so psyched for this project to come together –– but of course, before I can make that happen, I need your help!

While I’ve been able to fund this initial recording process for "Can’t Be Seen" on my own, to create an album of songs with full production and professional quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

For many years, I have pursued my dream of becoming a professional musician. It’s hard work going after your dreams, and it can be even harder to bounce back from failures along the way.  A few years back, I hit a point where I thought “Why am I doing this anymore?” I stopped playing and practicing as much as I used, turning my focus toward my job.  After a while, I realized that writing and performing music is what truly brings me happiness. Being able to make connections with people through music, through lyrics that everyone can relate to, is a spellbinding experience.

Since my “revival,” I’ve been working on innovating my songwriting.  With your support, I’ll be able to continue reigniting my music career by sharing this new material with individuals all around the world.
