WOW! Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign so far! We are so incredibly grateful and excited to make this album for you. Because we’ve made so much amazing progress so quickly, we are hoping to add a BONUS TRACK! Any contribution goes a long way to get us to Boston and make this album bigger and better than ever. Thank you, again, and we can’t wait to make more music!

Hello world! We are 48 Degrees North, an alt-pop band here in the beautiful city of Tacoma, WA.

This all started when Aidan, Anand, and Alonso started jamming together because none of us felt completely satisfied with the music we were playing at school. Learning advanced theory and classical performance was great, but we wanted to just rock out a little. At first it’s just for fun. We played some covers and threw around a few original ideas until one day, Aidan got a call for our first gig.

Since adding Manuel and Hunter to the group, the magic has only gotten stronger. Manuel and Alonso’s brotherly relationship makes us laugh and cry on the daily, and Hunter and Aidan go way back. We love playing music together, but before that, we love each other.

We have since recorded an EP and 4 singles, all from our basement studio. The quality is great for the tools we had, but we have since really stepped up our game and written some exciting new music, and we want the recording process to reflect that. For this, we need your help!

We've got a collection of great songs ready to record -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we’re digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and taking advantage of Mike’s producing experience to bring these songs to life. 

While we haven’t made it to Boston yet due to the current health crisis, we will––and we know this album will be worth the wait! In the meantime, we’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing a demo of one song remotely, with the assistance of some pretty amazing technology.

This first song is called “Not Like the Rest,” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund this initial recording process for "Not Like the Rest" on our own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of the project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. We’ll start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album, hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements, and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

A well-recorded album would open a lot of doors for our group in terms of future opportunities, namely in securing larger venues and acquiring a wider listenership. We've made great sounding recordings in the past, but we have lacked the talents of an experienced producer to add new insight into our sound and arrangements, as well as the high quality equipment to make an album that sounds the way we've always envisioned our music should sound. For those reasons and more, this project is critical to our future growth as a band. You have the power to help us make this project a reality!

Our families and friends have all been incredibly nurturing of our talents. Without that early encouragement this band might not even exist. We can't wait to show fans old and new what we can do!
