Hello world! My name is Kaciny and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Tupelo, MS.

The first time I ever stood on a stage to sing, my mother pulled me up to sing You Are the Sunshine of My Life by Stieve Wonder. I was all of maybe 5 years old? And I mustered all the courage in my little body to be able to sing along with her. She stepped back and let me have the spotlight and I heard the awws across the crowd.

As I got older, I looked at different career paths and options for my life. But the indelible pull of music remained. I carried it with me through elementary and middle school choirs, through high school and college musicals, on worship teams and in recording studios. Writing and figuring out what it means to connect song and story along the way.

After getting divorced, I lost sight of that. I lost my voice. It took me some time to find it again. But I did. And now, it’s my time to use it. With a gentle little nudge from my mom just like she did for me as a 5 year old, I found the inspiration to put pen to paper and sing about this experience.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating this professionally produced studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson  in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together,  and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Origami,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Origami” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It’s hard to put into words how much this project means to me.

The Break isn’t just an EP. It’s my story. It’s the unraveling of my marriage, my grief, my healing, and my truth—told through music that I’ve poured every ounce of my heart into.

Music has always been a lifeline for me—a way to process, to connect, to remember I’m not alone. It has the power to say what words alone can’t. To say: this is who I am, and this is what I’ve lived through.

I’m offering this music to my community not just as a body of songs, but as a shared experience. You are the ones who walked me through this divorce with phone calls, DMs, an encouraging word, a shared video… you helped me feel seen and understood during one of the darkest periods of my life. My hope is that The Break helps someone else feel seen. That it gives voice to emotions we don’t always talk about. That it creates space for both vulnerability and joy.

Creating this EP has already been such a collective process. From the incredibly talented musicians I’ve worked with—who’ve helped me push past fear and perfectionism—to the friends and family who’ve stood by me through the messy middle. To my producer @mikemdavidson at Plaid Dog Recording, whose patience and creativity helped bring these songs to life.

Now I’m ready to take everything I’ve learned and pour it into The Break.
