Hello world! My name is Hurst and I'm a singer-songwriter based in the beautiful city of Atlanta, GA.

Music has always been the way I make sense of life. From writing songs on the swingset as a kid, to open mics and living room sessions with friends, it’s been my constant thread through every season. Over the past few years — coming out, moving cities, falling in love, leaving old versions of myself behind — songwriting has been how I’ve processed it all.

Now, I’m ready to take the next step: recording my very first professionally produced EP with the amazing team at Plaid Dog Studios in Boston. These songs are personal and honest, but they’re also meant for you — for anyone who’s ever needed music to remind them they’re not alone.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded EP with Mike Davidson  in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Daydream,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Daydream” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this EP. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the EP will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It’s hard to put into words how much this project would mean to me. Music has always been my way of making sense of life — of turning feelings into something that connects us. These songs come from some of the most honest chapters of my life, and recording them at this level is the first time I get to share them in the way they were meant to be heard.

The impact of this campaign goes beyond me. With your support, I’ll be able to create an EP that can reach new listeners, open doors for bigger shows and opportunities, and hopefully connect with people who need to hear these songs the most.

On a personal level, this project represents years of dreaming, writing, and holding onto music when it was the only thing that held onto me. On a professional level, it’s the foundation for the next chapter of my career as a songwriter and artist.
