Hello world! My name is Kelle, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Toronto, Canada.

I’ve been making music and performing forever- performing and training at music school, performing in musicals and plays, singing with my guitar in bars and other venues around Vancouver, writing and recording my own music with money I could save from summer jobs, and singing and writing at any other chance I get. After pouring everything I’ve learned and experienced into songwriting, into harmony, into stories, the only thing left is to share the sounds and words that float through my head and my heart with all of you. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

While I haven’t made it to Boston yet due to the current health crisis, I will––and I know this album will be worth the wait! In the meantime, I’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing a demo of one song remotely, with the assistance of some pretty amazing technology.

This first song is called “wasting my twenties,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "wasting my twenties" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Music has done more for me than I have ever done for myself. It provides me with a sense of clarity that I am often unable to achieve amidst my own spinning thoughts, speaking a language that allows things to click into place when they otherwise seemed impossible. To me, there is nothing more astounding than the way a melody can describe a feeling, which, in all it’s beauty, is one of the few things that truly unites us. 

I’m a huge proponent of collaboration, in every corner of life’s offerings. From working as a musician or an actor, to sharing all of my triumphs and failures with my best friends and family as soon as they happen, I really do live to share. I can think of no better example of sharing than music. Even if a song is written and produced entirely by one person, the feelings a song leaves you with become a unique relationship between artist and audience, between listener and themselves, between you and me. Collaboration is found in the way we share music, at a concert screaming the lyrics alongside strangers, blasting your favourite songs in the car with the windows rolled down, or a mood set by a band playing in the corner of your favourite cafe. One of my wishes for this project is to share more of myself with all of you, and to seek out new collaborators of all kinds to create more music together. 

This is my first project of this caliber as a musician, and I am deeply excited for you to hear the songs that have brought me clarity over this past turbulent year. I have practiced harder, written more, and focused on trying to become a better version of myself every single day. With your support, I will channel this work and dedication into something beautiful that we can all share. You all have been my fiercest collaborators, and I couldn’t be more grateful or excited to make new memories.
