Hello world! My name is Justice LaBrave and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Brooklyn.

I’ve been making music and performing around New York City my whole life: from performing in cover bands at fundraisers and wedding gigs, to opening at a music festival and headlining The Bitter End. Making music and performing has taken me through an amazing journey and this time, it led me to Plaid Dog Recording Studio in Boston, Mass. to record the music I’ve been devoted to making and giving to the world.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Glory,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Glory” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Carter and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Being able to record and release this next project would solidify my sound and maintain the established professional quality of my work. The ability to connect and help listeners is so important to me, some would say it's my calling. I’ve been a teacher, a salesman, an advert agent, an outreach team leader, marketing strategist and in each of those roles I learned some much and have implemented them in my music as an independent artist. Music is the one thing that keeps coming back to me and always has made me better than before.

I’ve been able to find my tribe through trusting this musical journey and finding power in that. To enter this business, you have to have an element of will and self belief, the willingness to be open and connect to listeners and the belief that the right people will hear your music. The support I've received thus far has been overwhelming. Family, friends, new listeners, band mates, studio professionals of all kinds, I feel I’m finally developing the career I've always wanted and for the first time I'm around people who respect me as an artist, who understand my leap of fate, who also lead with their heart and have a willingness to connect and have the same self belief. With music, I’ve been able to find myself whole even when I feel lost.

The music of this next project has been treated with love, respect and will mark a professional milestone. A full length Studio Album is something an independent artist like me has dreamt about. The release of this project would solidify my first two EPs as stepping stones in my musical evolution as a recording artist. This music feels lived in, this music feels grown, this music feels inspiring and with your help, you and the rest of the world can connect to what we plan to record.
