Overview

Hello world! My name is Gio, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Denver.

I’ve been playing music since I was six years old, exploring many genres like classical, flamenco, jazz, and folk. About six years ago, I started going to local open mics in Denver, and the vibrant songwriting community there inspired me to start writing my own songs. Since then, I’ve been working on developing my style, playing around various venues in town, and continuing to be a part of the songwriting community here in Denver. Over the past year, I’ve polished up my songs, found collaborators willing to bring them to life, and am getting ready to share my music with the world.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. The single is called “Your Heart,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Your Heart" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Originally, I was going to college for computer science and preparing for a career in the tech field. Around the time I entered my 20s, I met some experienced and successful people that played music for a living. It was then that I realized that a career in music may actually be feasible for me. I had all the right pieces in place just by continuing to play music whenever I could, but I learned quickly that it takes a lot of work to make it into a career. Years later, after working hard, I make most of my living through music -- either by teaching private and group lessons, playing gigs, running community events, or being a part of other people’s projects. 

Having a professionally recorded album under my belt could be a game changer to make these things happen for me. This opportunity will allow me to grow in the festival circuit, play larger venues, and promote my music more seriously online. Whenever people ask where they can hear my music, I would have a very clear answer for them. I would have something substantial to offer to promoters, event bookers, and venues around the country and the world. All of this would result in reaching many new listeners and growing my audience. This would open up many doors and help take my career to the next level.
