Overview

Hello world! We are The Hearsay, and we’re a band from the Metro-Atlanta area in Georgia.

Over the past two years, we’ve mainly been known around town as a cover band, playing a respectable array of popular songs across five decades for bar and restaurant patrons and festival attendees. We slowly but surely have started writing our own songs, and were able to record them on our limited budget at boutique local studios. We even won a contest with an awesome local production studio, ECG Productions, and received an all expenses paid music video from pre to post production for our song “Warning Signs.”

Since that awesome experience, we made a decision to start focusing more on our original music. Through this, our songwriting continues to mature and improve. We are stoked about our new songs, as we feel they better portray who we are as a band and as individual musicians. We believe recording these songs in a high-quality, professional studio with Bryan as our producer will allow them to live up to their true potential. But we need your help!

Now that we've got a collection of great songs ready to record, this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly, a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we are working with Bryan on our original material, writing arrangements, and getting ready to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Home” and you can check it out below!

While we’ve already funded the recording process for "Home," to create an album of songs of this quality, studio time costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of our project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. With Bryan, we will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end, so the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

The new material we’ve been working on is a step above from where we were before, musically and lyrically. We feel these songs better showcase our musicianship, our synthesis as a group, and demonstrate more compelling lyrics that we hope our audience can connect with. The album as a whole communicates the insecurities and anxieties mainly surrounding the quarter-life stage of one’s life, but are not exclusive to that. We hope these songs will resonate with listeners of all life’s stages as they navigate their own “how-tos,” “what-ifs,” and “whys” in life, and most importantly, finding the drive and motivation to persist.

Our families and close friends have all been incredibly supportive of our love for music over the years, both individually and as a band, and have also helped this campaign get off the ground in a major way, so shout out to them! We can’t wait to start recording and show our fans old and new how we’ve grown!

A professionally recorded album would open a lot of doors for our band. We are striving to reach a wider audience, both in Atlanta and beyond. The first step was expanding our sound in live performances by adding keys. The second step is to equate that bigger and better sound via audio recordings. In order to do this, we have to put out the best product we can give: a professionally recorded, high-quality album that sounds the way we've always envisioned our music should sound.
