Hello amazing fans! My name is Robert Rhu, and I'm a singer-songwriter living in the sunny city of Delray Beach, FL.

I’ve been making and performing music most of my life, singing around the campfire at summer camp as a young man, in high school choir, at open mics when I first started writing music some 34 years ago, jamming in basements with friends, studying jazz performance in college, and playing too many bars, house concerts and street corners to count. My life has been blessed with music, day in and day out. It is my rock. It’s always there for me as a creative outlet and way of connecting with the world around me. Now it’s time to take that lifetime of inspiration and hard work and channel it into a refined, heartfelt album that I am so thrilled to share with you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced full-length studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to studio musicians to bring my songs to life. 
We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “The Noose,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording of "The Noose" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Ever since I was a young man learning to play guitar, sing and write music, I’ve dreamt of recording a professional full-length album of my original songs. 

Music has this incredible ability to connect and inspire people and to tell common stories that connect us as human beings. At this moment in my life, I am in a position to step into the studio with music that I feel will truly inspire the world around me in this way. Over the years, incredible musicians and friends have inspired me to write my best work, and I stand before you today with a group of songs that I know will tickle your ear drums, inspire a wide range of emotions, and keep you listening day after day. My hope is that these songs will more deeply connect me to you, you to me, and ALL OF US together.

While this level of recording is a new endeavor for me, I have recorded singles and an EP, as well as executed a variety of creative projects. Throughout all of these, I’ve been honing my songwriting skills, forming my own unique sound, and practicing my ass off. With your generous support, that consistent lifetime of work and experience will pay off in the form of an album that is sonically beautiful and emotionally inspiring. And we get to make it TOGETHER!
