Hello world! My name is Jackson Painter and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Tulsa, OK.

I’ve always been drawn to music and entertainment, even though I didn't know it at first. I’ve taught myself how to play the piano starting when I was in fifth grade. I brushed it off, tried a plethora of sports and academics classes, but it wasn't until a couple years ago that I discovered that I want to make music, no matter the kind. I began teaching myself to sing by listening to Sia and twenty one pilots records and I eventually saved up the money and bought a guitar, later teaching myself to play bass, drums, ukulele, and audio production. I think it's about time to face my fears and set my songs loose into the world for others to listen to and enjoy.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Carter Sanders  in Boston, MA. Carter is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together,  Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Plunge,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Plunge” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

Music, Expression, and Art has influenced me to live a life I want to live, not just creating to make money, but to bring people together and help those in times of need. Music is everywhere, Music helps every human through every experience, and I want to be a part of helping people. 

I was not born with the touch of music, I have not accomplished any musical feats, and I have a very difficult time approaching people and talking with them, but I have worked tirelessly over the last couple of years to harness and define my love of performance and creativity to break past certain barriers. When I first picked up the piano or guitar, I had no idea how it worked, what the strings do, or how to make sound. I have never taken any formal class besides middle school trumpet. My point is that, there are people who are a thousand times more knowledgeable and advanced at this thing than I am, but I believe that anybody can make art, anybody can sit down and write a song, and I hope to prove that after everything I have been through in my personal life, that still, anybody can make art and impact those around them with it. 

This will be my very first finished personal project, first single, first upload. I have sat on the idea of releasing music, as it is one of my biggest dreams, but I've always been very timid. I knew that I had to start somewhere. I hope from the bottom of my heart that these songs can resonate with you, the fans. And with your support, we can make music together for many years to come!
