Overview

Hello world! We are Doulos Worship and we’re singer-songwriters here in the beautiful city of Kansas City, MO.

We have both been writing music since we were young– Ashley started singing in churches as a child, and I (Borin) began writing music when I first picked up a guitar at 12  years old.  When Ashley was growing up in ministry, it was clear early on that she was gifted and called to sing worship songs to Jesus.  This was an early passion for her, but tough times led her to stray in her teen and early adult years away from Jesus, and away from her call to sing.  I myself did not grow up in a Christian home, but from the moment I began to play music I knew what I was made for with certainty.  As I wrote in one of my early compositions, “music has to be from God, and for God, for it exceeds man.”  I spent the next decade pursuing my passion in the world through choir, composition, and rock bands.  I was a rebel, and even with music I still experienced emptiness.

We both accepted Jesus as our Lord in our early 20’s, and met each other shortly after.  We fell in love while writing and singing worship songs to Jesus together.  For over 10 years now we’ve had many original melodies and songs birthed in moments of spontaneous worship, but we never did anything with them.  Then in late 2022, the Holy Spirit began to speak clearly and convict us that these songs from Him must be shared with the world– and so, our journey began.  After we began the process of fully writing these songs, we contacted Plaid Dog Studios about the opportunity to work with them.  We felt it to be a blessing from God that we’d been connected and now, as we had been faithful to write the music that had been on the back burner, we’d finally be able to record these songs with a professional sound.

The material is ready, and we are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together with Mike, we are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and bringing the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Jubilee Song,” and you can check it out below!

While we’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Jubilee Song” on our own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us all a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  With Mike, we will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances– as Borin and Ashley record all of the instruments in the album.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

Worship music brings us all into an engagement with Creator of the Universe.  It opens the doors of our hearts to express our adoration to Him.  Music also has the ability to heal and unite people, and we truly believe that these songs are empowered by the Spirit to set people free in their relationship with Him.  We are confident that as we take this step in bravery, it will be a tremendous help to others in their walk.

What we hope to accomplish with this album is this: we’ve put so much work into these songs because we believe that the Holy Spirit wants to impact hearts through them, so we must have high quality recordings in order to cause these songs to be fit for platforms like Spotify, Apple, etc., to add to their playlists and suggest to people like you.  We also hope that this can be a compounding investment for us, so that we can continue to produce more Spirit led music.  This takes lots of time and resources but we believe that if we launch this rightly, it will free us up to share much more music that is already in waiting.  We have over 30 song ideas beyond these right now, and more coming all the time– all inspired by the Holy Spirit.

With your support, we will be able to get these songs out to hearts are prepared for them.  We’ll be able to share this worship music around the world, impacting and empowering people everywhere that are just like yourself.  God set it up to require partnership, so your help is the only way we can truly accomplish this work of the Kingdom– together. Many will sing new songs in freedom to Jesus.
