Overview
Alana Palumbo
With your help, Alana Palumbo is embarking on her first professionally-recorded album with a fantastic producer and studio in Boston, MA. Alana has been working hard on her new material and is so excited to have this opportunity to bring her project to life. She has already recorded one new song for you to stream for free below, called "Come Along (don’t).” Your support will help Alana Palumbo get back into the studio to make the rest of the album and take this project to the next level!
THE PROJECT
Hello world! My name is Alana Palumbo and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Ithaca, NY.
While making music has only come into my life in the last few years, it’s been incredibly life-changing for me. My story and my path have been far from linear, but amid all of the struggle, music has helped to shape my trajectory for the better. Singing and songwriting both are an outlet for me to share what’s going on in the corners of my brain, and coming from a background in poetry/creative writing, I love writing in rhymes and verses - it’s the way I make sense of the world!
The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.
WHAT YOU'RE SUPPORTING
This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.
We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Come Along (don’t),” and you can check it out below!
While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Come Along (don’t)” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:
1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.
2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.
3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

THE IMPACT
It’s hard to convey in words how much this project means to me, but I will say this: music is both healing and imperfect. It is a vessel of connection that weaves a thread through our unique senses of humanity to bring us closer together. It is raw, intimate, and at times, ugly. But that ugliness has to be present—in our physical appearance, in our inner thoughts, and in the words we share with the world—because that ugliness gives birth to the inherent beauty of authenticity. We can’t have one without the other. And as someone who has struggled with perfectionism my whole life, that’s a hard pill for me to swallow, but a necessary one. That is one facet of why this album is so important to me; it’s a testament to my journey of self-acceptance, both physically and emotionally.
That being said, this album goes beyond the realm of a strictly personal project. I recently graduated with an AA in Creative Writing and am now pursuing my Bachelor’s in Songwriting and Music Production through Berklee College of Music Online. This upcoming album blends my love of storytelling and music, and it’s more than a creative milestone—it's a crucial step in my journey. Your support means everything as I take this next big step!
