Hello world! My name is Addy Gardner and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Kansas City, Missouri.

I have been playing music around the greater Kansas City area for years, and I’ve known from the very start that it’s my passion. The longer I play guitar and sing, the more certain I am that I could never live without it. Producing an EP has been a dream of mine for so long, and I can hardly believe that I am this close to making it happen.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson  in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together,  Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “me (who pulled the knife),” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "me (who pulled the knife)” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

I’m very young, but I have worked my butt off to be a part of the music industry so early. My gratefulness knows no bounds, and every new experience I’m able to have just reminds me of how much I love music and reaffirms the certainty that I’d never be able to live without it. The one thing I was still so hungry for was studio time- all I wanted was for me and other like-minded musicians to put our heads together and make something really beautiful. And I was finally able to do that.

My experience in Plaid Dog’s studio has been phenomenal, and I cannot wait to come back. I will not be able to stop thinking about it until my return- I can assure you that. Boston is a beautiful place, and the beautiful musicians I’ve met have only elevated my music with such consideration and with only the best intentions. I truly cannot be more grateful for this opportunity. 

I have an expansive social support system, and for the longest time, they have been urging me to put a project out. I’ve tried, time and time again, to explain the difficulty required to put out music of high quality- after all, my standards have always been extraordinarily high for myself. I simply haven’t had the time, or the means, to create the project of my dreams. But now, that opportunity is at my fingertips. All I need is your support to carry me the extra mile, and to allow all my passion for the artform to culminate in the first high level, professional project of my life.
