Hello world! My name is Willowbrook, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Windsor, ON.

I have been singing, playing instruments, and in love with music since I was a young child. It has always been an incredibly prominent part of my life, and something that will always be a big part of my identity. I write songs for people who feel lost, broken, and alone. For people who, from the earth and for the earth, can always see the beauty in things, or want to give it a go. My goal as an artist is to live up to César A. Cruz’s words, “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” 

Songwriting and making music were always things I’d wanted to do, but never things I’d ever considered an actual possibility. It wasn’t until I moved to Windsor and started interacting with the music scene that I realized that my “pipe dream” could actually come true, and I ended up completely changing my career path in suit. I’m beyond grateful for all the people who’ve helped bring me to where I am now, and equally so for everyone at Plaid Dog who’s helped us on our journey thus far!

I’ve just recently started branching out and gaining a bit of traction online in the past year, and I have so much more that I want to share with the world compared to the actual amount of content I have out right now. It wasn’t until Plaid Dog reached out to me that I ended up having the resources to make all those desires a reality – but we’re going to need your help.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded EP with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Waltz of the Birds and the Bees,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Waltz of the Birds and the Bees" on my own, to create an EP of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Carter and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the EP. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this EP. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the EP will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

This EP is a collection of my favorite pieces I’ve ever created. My manager and I have put our hearts and souls into envisioning and conceptualizing this project, and now we’re putting that same effort into making it a reality. To be able to see everything come together and for the songs to be given life in a way that I couldn’t on my own – that would mean everything to me.
