Hello world! My name is Amberlee, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

I’ve been writing original lyrics, singing my family’s ears off, and humming random melodies my whole life. From capturing silly little songs I improvised on the spot on tape, posting cover songs on YouTube that I can’t ever delete due to a forgotten password, joining a choir for 8 years of my life, singing in several talent shows, and performing in my family’s backyards at friend and family gatherings, music has been a HUGE part of my life. After pouring everything I’ve learned into songwriting, stories and harmonies, the only thing left is to share the sounds in my head and my heart with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Mr. No Name,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Mr. No Name" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Music has this incredible ability to connect with people not only in their darkest of times, but also in their happiest of moments. For every mood and emotion, there is a style of music and specific songs to match. Music not only touches our hearts and souls individually, but it also has an unbelievable way of bringing people together and uniting people from several different communities, cultures and backgrounds. This beautiful gift from God is one I want to utilize to the best of my abilities, so that one day maybe I can bring people together, similarly.

For the first time in my life, I feel inspired and brave enough to chase my musical aspirations head on, taking a leap to share my own music with the community in hopes of having at least one person connect with my lyrics the way I have connected with many of my favorite songs and artists.

Music is, for me, fundamentally a collective process. I couldn’t have gotten this far without the choir teachers who inspired me to learn the technicality of music, vocal coaches who helped me find my range, friends who encouraged me to keep singing, strangers who gave me hope that my voice is truly a gift, family who have told me to never give up, and musicians and other song-writers who have helped me develop my skill set with their own unique touches. Music is about community and connection, and I've shared musical experiences with so many people in my life. One of my hopes is that this project helps me find new collaborators in my networks to make more music together.

While I've never made a music project of this caliber before, I have never turned away from music, and every small opportunity has led me here. All the while, I've been deepening my musical focus and practicing, practicing, practicing. With your support, I will channel that consistent work and experience into something new and beautiful that we will have made together.
