Hello world! My name is Brittany Baldwin, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Based on the welcome feedback of my awesome audience, I have been led to describe my music as follows: If Adele, Ann Wilson, and Jennifer Nettles had a baby, it would be my music! I’ve developed a reputation for power-house vocals and creative versions of many different cover songs that I play at live shows.

Thanks to this opportunity with Plaid Dog Recording Studio, I am ready to record new original music and share it with you all. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my second professionally produced studio project, “Edge of the Storm.”

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

This spring, I set the process in motion to make this album with Bryan and Plaid Dog. I wanted to share a taste of this record with you all, so I made plans to travel to Boston and record our new single, “Friday Night Lights” with Bryan. Unfortunately, things took a turn with the health crisis and needless to say, I haven’t made it to Boston yet––but I will, and I know this album will be worth the wait!

In the meantime, with the assistance of some pretty amazing technology, Bryan helped me finish a demo of “Friday Night Lights” remotely! You can check out the demo below for free!

While I’ve been able to fund this initial recording process for "Friday Night Lights" on my own, to create an album of songs of professional quality and full production, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

For me, music is a way to express myself, control my feelings. It makes me a better person. With the confirmation of this project coming during a time of Covid-19 and rolling quarantines, I realized this is my time to take my next step and really put everything I have into this album. The state of the world drove me harder to better express myself through music in creative ways, and it definitely helped me control my feelings during some very sad and sometimes seemingly hopeless times that we could all relate to, I’m sure.

I have come so far on my music journey in such a short period of time. I have been extremely blessed to have such a successful career in music so far and have been really wanting to continue to grow. This project came unexpectedly; however, it’s going to be a true reflection of my growth as a person and musician.

I have decided to name this album “Edge of the Storm” because it is a place we have all found ourselves in different times throughout our lives. I like to think through any storm comes light and growth. Covid was an unexpected storm that left us all shaken but gave me a new sense of courage to be real with my music on a level that no one has seen from me before. With your support, I can share this next batch of originals to a world that needs realness, vulnerability, support, and love so my listeners know you're not alone in your struggles and so that we can all get through this storm together!
