Overview

Hello world! My name is Manny Glover, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Atlanta, GA.  

I’ve been singing since I was a wee tot, and I picked up the guitar when I was 15. Throughout the years, I’ve gained experience playing so many types of music from classical, to alternative, to folk, “oldies,” and more. I have a library of over 50 songs that I’ve written over the years and have loved playing live or for myself. After pouring everything I’ve learned into songwriting, into stories, and into harmony, the only thing left is to share the sounds in my head and my heart with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing a preview of one song remotely, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Contusion” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund this initial recording process for “Contusion" on my own, to create an album of songs with full production and professional quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

My mindset with regards to music has always wavered between two extremes: "Yes, this is my calling, this is what I'm passionate about and what I'm good at," and on the other hand, "It's just a pipe dream, keep your nose down in the computer and write code--it's a good living." Often, I would play an open mic, and I would have a kind gentleman in the audience say, “If I was hearing that on the radio and not at some little open mic, I would think that’s the next John Lennon.”  The next morning I would go back to writing computer code and allowing that dream to die a slow death.  

Now, I’m not saying I’m the next John Lennon!  But I am saying that I believe I am a good songwriter, and I know others believe it too. For the first time in my life, I’ve decided to commit myself fully to the pursuit of being a musician. I’ve been promoting my music to grow a fanbase and reach new listeners. Having a professional product to share would open so many doors for me such as radio play, streaming services, and bigger and better gigs. With your support, I can take my music career to a whole new professional level.
