Hello world! We are Jin & J and we’re a band from the beautiful city of Tucson, AZ.

We first started the project in the summer of 2023, starting out the way many bands do. Jamming on cover songs and figuring out our sound. But the more time we spent playing, the more we realized we wanted to tell our own stories.

Since then, those first covers have given way to songs that feel truly ours. Sometimes intimate and stripped down, other times full-band and bursting with energy. Sharing them live has shown us just how much they connect, and it’s made us hungry to capture them in a way that matches their full potential.

Until now, all our recordings have been DIY. But this new project is our chance to take a leap forward, to step into a professional studio and give these songs the life they deserve. With your support, we can make that next chapter a reality.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher  in Boston, MA. Ryan is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we are digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “We are,” and you can check it out below!

While We've been able to fund the recording process for "We are” on our own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of our project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

For us, music has always been about connection. When we started in 2023, it was just the two of us playing covers for fun. But the more we played, the more we realized that music was the one place where our own stories came alive. I mean, stories that could reach people in ways simple conversation couldn’t.

What makes this project exciting is that it isn’t just “ours.” Every step has been shaped by the people around us: friends who have supported us, other musicians who jumped in to jam, audiences who gave us the courage to keep playing, and mentors who pushed us to grow. Music feels less like a solo act and more like a community we get to belong to.

This will be our first project of this caliber, and it feels like a turning point. It’s like moving from sketches and live moments into something permanent, something we can share with anyone, anywhere. With your support, we can capture that energy and turn it into a record that’s bigger than us, but rooted in the same honesty that started it all.
