Overview

My whole life I’ve had a love for words, a need for music, and these ultra-explosive emotions with nowhere to put them. I blame a major part of this on being homeschooled, but realistically I’m just PAINFULLY a Pisces. Through every phase of my life, I can pinpoint a creative endeavor I pursued as a way of processing change and rationalizing the uncertainty of growing up. The constant through every venue of artistry I tried was my writing and my music. Songwriting became especially sacred and useful to me once I started college and experienced so many unfamiliar feelings, relationships, and growing pains. I grew up during theater and have kept that part of me alive now into adulthood, meaning I have a need for performance and storytelling coursing through my veins. All of this to say, I have obnoxiously massive goals for my life, most of which include the arguably self indulgent and mentally freeing act of sharing my silly, dumb, and giant feelings with the rest of the world :) 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Venomous,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Venomous” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Carter and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

I’ve mentioned already how imperative songwriting and music have always been to my mental wellbeing and clarity. In the last year, I’ve discovered it to be an exciting way of creating these alternate realities where maybe I’m braver, sappier, or more venomous than I actually am. While this take on my music has led to an exciting new sound within myself, it’s also aided in my own self discovery.

I ache for my music to be heard by listeners in every corner of the world. Not for the… , not for the name in lights (although that would be a pretty awesome bonus). But for the young person sitting on the floor of their bedroom, experiencing the feeling of a heart split in half for the first time. For that same young person finding solace in a repetitive Rock bridge or a slow Pop refrain. For that person as they grow into a young adult and find others with feelings as big as theirs, and an equal love for their favorite songs.

My hope for this project is that it can bridge the gap that currently exists between my grasp on my own artistry and music, and the knowledge I lack on the more logistical (but equally important) side of making music.

Up to this point, my music has existed on a really small scale. I’ve taught myself enough Garageband knowledge to align the synth with a 2 part vocal harmony, but I’m ready for more. While I’ve been granted ample time to really contemplate what I want my sound to be and how my brand can reflect every part of who I am, I’m ready to exist beyond the confines of my childhood bedroom.
