Hello world! My name is The Nate Jakaitis Experience and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Boston, MA.

Over the last 3 years I let my mind wander and let it bring some stories to life - to laugh at and to listen to, to jam on and to get lost in. To try and make sense of the world. I don’t know if these quite do that as I think they have a sort of mystical sense once you know the stories and I think they say a little something about all the things we tell ourselves. Just as important to the story line and having it “make sense” was having it absolutely move - to have you bopping your head, tapping your foot, and lost in the song. So thats what we’re aiming to do.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Carter Sanders  in Boston, MA. Carter is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together,  and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Nobody Knows,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Nobody Knows” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Music is the undefinable reality we live in - somehow we can create our own version of time and fit emotions that words couldn’t even come close to comparing. I think if you’re not in a different headspace at the end of song as at the beginning then there was a missed opportunity to connect. To connect emotionally with another human through a completely made up series of pitches and noises is completely ridiculous -  but you walk into a grocery store and the right song is on and suddenly your trip to gather supplies is enhanced just because you’re in a better head space. I think the best way for me to succinctly share my headspace was to create this small world that is so extreme but understandable - I recently read Catcher In The Rye and in the midst of writing these songs I realized to a degree the thread running through them is the want to reach and connect with those around but for one reason or another not being able to - from outside pressure, to having to go against your own philosophy. I think it’s my understanding of the things humans have told themselves in order to get from day to day.
