Hello world! My name is Elsie Eastman, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Boston, Massachusetts. 

I’ve been singing all my life-- concert choirs, musicals, fundraisers, busking on the streets, fairs and festivals, singing from my rooftop, belting in the shower (if you know me, you know this is not an exaggeration). After pouring my heart and soul into improving my craft and bringing joy to the ears of every Bostonian I can reach, the only thing left is to share the sounds in my head and heart with the rest of the world. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Fall in Love With Strangers,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Fall in Love With Strangers” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

To me, music is a way to connect with people and polish up people’s broken or tarnished souls-- my own and others’. It’s a universal medicine. When I play for people, I see something change in them-- maybe their smile grows a little bit. Maybe they stop crying. Maybe they start. Maybe they take their partner’s hand. Maybe they start humming along as they draw in their sketchbook. When I see these little changes it reminds me how music is something everyone can relate to, something that can make us all feel a little less alone in this world. 

This album is so special to me because it is full of happy, positive music that brings life’s little moments of joy into the spotlight. The sort of little moment that might make you smile before you forget it. Well, I didn’t forget it. I went and wrote a song about it, and I want to blast it from the rooftops. So life’s got you down? Tired of isolation? Craving something that will lift a little bit of weight off your shoulders? Me too. That’s this album. 

While I’ve released music on my own before, there’s a big difference between music recorded in a laundry closet and a professional collection of songs with a full band, new sounds, and artfully crafted arrangements. With this album, I would have something new and beautiful to show venues I’d like to play at, allowing me to reach bigger crowds, and something that could bring a little more joy to this planet. Not only that, but recording a studio album would give me the experience I need in my career to keep going with music recording and keep bringing sunshine to your hearts.
