Hello world! My name is Gavin Cole, and I'm a singer originally from Centreville, VA now living in LA.

Music has always been a massive part of my life. Ever since I can remember I have been singing and making music. I had always been a part of a group. In elementary school I started doing musicals during the summer. Which I continued to do until I graduated high school. While in high school I was in a show choir and performed all over the country on some of the most prestigious stages. When I got to college I finally got the chance to be the lead singer of a band, and from that moment I knew that I had to start releasing my own music. With the help of my former bandmate Matt Burridge, I started slowly releasing music starting in 2020 with my first solo single “Let Me Down Easy”. Three more singles have been released since then, and I’m even starting to book shows here in LA. But I knew that I was going to need more than just a few singles out to really get to where I want to be with my music. That’s when Plaid Dog came and gave me the opportunity to record. That’s where we are now!

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio EP.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded EP with Carter Sanders in Boston, MA. Carter is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Carter and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Sink or Swim,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Sink or Swim" on my own, to create an EP of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Carter and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the EP. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this EP. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the EP will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Putting out music and connecting with people has always been a top priority of mine. With the success of this campaign, I could finally release the studio EP that I have been wanting to. I never thought that I would be able to do anything like this, until Plaid Dog came around. Now I finally get to take that chance and put everything I have into the songs and release an EP that I know people will love.
