Overview

Hello world! My name is Bonnie Wood, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Asheville, NC.

I’ve been making music in some capacity since I was a child.  Life has many twists and turns and I have rerouted myself many times in life, pursuing dance, raising children, and adding my creative input to various projects along the way. But music has always called me back to this path of creating and sharing songs.

I performed kids music for a time, in a weekly event called “toddler music in the park,” which channeled my inner music promptings in a sweet and satisfying way, but lacked some of the depth and catharsis of sharing more mature creations. So I let that go. I came to a rather painful mid-life crisis point in my life where I was feeling a longing for greater purpose and inspiration, and clarity around many areas of life, and songwriting helped pull me through, and be present with all that was happening and be able to share authentically and vulnerably with the world.    

In a moment of feeling very open to universal direction, I sought collaboration with Plaid Dog.  And many affirming signs occurred along the way, including a flow of new song material that I’m excited to share with everyone. In the past, I held limiting beliefs about pursuing a project like this but have finally come to a place of more belief in the power of following this calling, and more faith in the process and journey.  With that sense of surrender to being content in the process, and being open to the magic of collaborating,  the timing for this project felt very aligned. I couldn’t be more excited to be on the verge of offering this music and songs with the aligned collaborations that have occurred along the way. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Essence of You,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Essence of You" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Ryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

The success of this campaign would be such a gift of collaboration and support.  The ability to produce a professional high quality album of creative inspirations and collaborations, to share with the world, would really create a powerful momentum. It would lead to more opportunities  for my music career and help set the stage for further album productions, performances, and successful endeavors to grow as an artist and share uplifting and inspiring music with the world.
