Hello world! My name is Jared Fetzer, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Newark, Ohio.

I have always been around music! I can’t remember a day when there wasn’t one of my 9 siblings on the piano or some song playing on the stereo, but I think my love for singing rock music started when I heard Queen’s song “Princes of The Universe” riding in the back of a van on a mission trip to Mississippi, with my cousins.

I really want to get my album made before the Apocalypse happens. Hahaha! In all seriousness though, I have my wife who is my best friend and is without question my rock and inspiration, a beautiful newborn baby girl and 2 very young boys who absolutely love rock music are a big motivation. Listening to music and writing/singing rock music really inspires me and has played a huge role in helping me get through a lot of difficult times and struggles with severe mental illness. I would love to have the potential to help my kids and other people go through their struggles with my music and have something to hold on to that lasts beyond my life… I couldn’t think of a better gift to give.

My writing is inspired by the dark and hard truths of reality and the internal human struggle to keep moving forward toward a greater purpose and to create a relatable experience.  My album, Pleading for Apocalypse, is a conviction of how our actions, attitudes, and choices are a plea for the end to come. As if we are “pleading” or asking for it. Additionally, it is a plea for the revelation of everything; meaning, truth, time, God, purpose and a fulfilled hope for a better world. I really hope the album captures just a hint of those things.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Pleading For Apocalypse,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Pleading For Apocalypse" on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Ryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

The success of this Campaign would mean that the effort that I put into writing my heart out on so many pages throughout the years, communicating my imagination through music and going through the struggle of self doubt and all the nights I fought the fear of not being good enough was worth it. I always dreamed of writing a rock album and pursuing music professionally and independently for so long and now having the opportunity through your support to make it, I can't think of something that means more to me than your participation in creating this album!
