Hello world! My name is Adrienne Grammer and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Memphis, TN.

I’ve been writing country music for close to a decade, this record is deeply personal and yet relatable to everyone. I’m very pleased with the timing of this album, it’s needed now, more than ever. I am from rural Georgia (Augusta) and moved to Memphis for more opportunities. Memphis has been a city that has shaped me and allowed me to write from my current perspective.  As a response to the negative portrayal of trans women in American media, It’s important for me to show that we are funny, self-aware, conscious, and creative. 

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson  in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together,  Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Fellas,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Fellas” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

The Girl They Warned You About is more than an EP—it’s a voice for experiences that too often go unheard, especially for trans women like me. In a world where our stories are questioned, politicized, or erased altogether, this project stands as a reminder that we are here, we are real, and our lives are rich with beauty, struggle, humor, heartbreak, and hope.

Every song on this record reflects a chapter of my journey: the moments I felt underestimated, the nights I fought to find my place, the joy of becoming myself, and the strength I uncovered along the way. While this EP is deeply personal and rooted in the unique realities of being a trans woman in today’s climate, it’s also an album for everyone. The themes—love, identity, resilience, confidence, vulnerability—are universal. Anyone who has ever been judged, misunderstood, or told they were “too much” will find themselves somewhere in these songs.

Stylistically, this project blends the heart of country-pop with the grit and honesty of lived experience. It carries the sweetness of my Southern roots, the resilience of Memphis, and the bold confidence of the artist—and woman—I’ve grown into. Creating this music helped me reclaim pieces of myself I used to hide. It let me give voice to the girl people whispered about, doubted, or warned others about… and show the world who she truly is.

To everyone who has supported my music and believed in my story—thank you. Your encouragement has carried me through some of the most defining years of my life. This EP exists because people like you chose to uplift, listen, and stand beside me.

The Girl They Warned You About is for every trans woman who needs to hear her experiences reflected back at her with pride, strength, and dignity. And it’s for every person, regardless of who they are, who has ever had to fight to be seen.
