WOW! Thank you to everyone who has supported our campaign so far! We are so incredibly grateful and excited to make this album for you. The campaign is still running, and any contribution goes a long way to make this album bigger and better than ever. Because we’ve made so much amazing progress so quickly, we’d like to design and manufacture beautiful CDs and LPs! To do this, we would like to reach $15,000. Thank you, again, and we can’t wait to make more music!

Hello world from The Lillys, a new band based here in beautiful West Virginia!

We are a three-piece family band, and in a casual sense we have been playing together for many years. In another way, we are just getting started! Dad (John Lilly) enjoyed a long and varied career as a solo artist, songwriter, clog dancer and a member of several successful bands. Mason and Georgia, John’s two children, are  fine musicians in their own right.

About 10 years ago, John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease - a progressive and incurable movement disorder. We got together whenever and wherever possible and developed a unique band sound of three-part vocal harmonies and some fine accompaniment on fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar and clarinet.  

We’ve made a series of informal recordings, featuring traditional and original songs. Now, all that’s left is to perfect these tunes in the studio to reach a large audience that we feel certain is waiting for what we have to offer.

We've got a collection of great songs ready to record -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we’re digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and preparing to take this next step.

While we haven’t made it to Boston yet due to the current health crisis, we will––and we know this album will be worth the wait! In the meantime, we’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing a demo of one song remotely, with the assistance of some pretty amazing technology.

This first song is called “Crosstie,” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund this initial recording process for "Crosstie" on our own and with the generous support of some amazing friends and family members, to create an album of songs with full production and studio quality, studio costs add up quickly. This campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of the project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. We’ll start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album, hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements, and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

A well-recorded album would open a lot of doors for us in terms of future opportunities, namely securing larger and more high-profile performance opportunities, attracting widespread radio airplay and streaming, and attracting a large and loyal following. The world deserves to hear the best we have to offer: a professionally recorded, high-quality album that rings clear and sounds as good as we can make it!

Our family and friends have been incredibly nurturing of our talents. Without that early and steadfast encouragement this band might not even exist. We can't wait to show fans old and new what we can do!
