Hello world! My name is Zachary, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Fremont, California.

I’ve always been a musical person. I’ve been singing, dancing and making up songs since I was little. Whether singing in a choir, performing in a musical theatre production, playing the piano, or just listening to my favorite bands, I’ve never been far from music –– it’s a core part of my life. I’ve developed my skills in composing and writing lyrics over the years, and I’m finally in the position to make my songs a reality and share them with you. I can’t overstate how excited I am!

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

While I haven’t made it to Boston yet due to the current health crisis, I will––and I know this album will be worth the wait! In the meantime, I’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing a demo of one song remotely, with the assistance of some pretty amazing technology.

This first song is called “A Year in Revue” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund this initial recording process for “A Year in Revue" on my own, to create an album of songs with full production and professional quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Music is an incredibly powerful force –– I’ve never encountered anything else like it. People find solace in music, they relate to music, they bond over music, and they spend their time and money making and experiencing it because it brings them joy. This is something I want to be a part of, but not alone. Music may be beautiful to the person who writes it, but I believe that its real meaning comes from all the people that listen, enjoy, interpret, and play it. That’s why this project is so important to me: It gives me the chance to bring that collective meaning to my music and create a shared emotional experience of the kind that’s entranced me before. It would change my life to see my friends, family and loved ones share in it –– and if practical considerations are more your thing, having professionally produced music will open up amazing opportunities for my future in performing and recording.

I’ve never embarked on an undertaking of this scale before, and I won’t lie to you and say I’m not a little scared –– but I know I can accomplish this with the support of the people who care about me. I’m putting my all into this project, and with your help, we can make something new and incredible together.
