Hello world! My name is Caroline Perry and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Cincinnati, OH.

I’ve been writing and performing music in some capacity my whole life. From filming music videos and organizing lip-synched, choreographed concerts for family members as a kid, to picking up the guitar at 10 years old and teaching myself to play, to piecing together the words to explain all the weird little feelings going on inside of my brain and finding the courage to share them with the world, there's been something in my DNA that demands an outlet for all things musical. 

I started writing music when I was 14 years old. I wrote about the closest things to love and heartbreak a kid can experience, persisting through adversity and hardship, and the call to something deeper that’s always been deep within my bones. When I was finally brave enough to share my art with my friends and family, I was met with an incredible response: people understood. They told me they had been there, that my words resonated with them. I didn’t know how and I hardly knew why, but I had to make music part of my story somehow. I spent the next several years honing my craft, experiencing more life, and seeking my next step. Well, this is it!

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Blue Corvette,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Blue Corvette” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Ryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

I believe everybody has a mission statement in their life whether they have words for it or not. I’ve been blessed enough to be able to explore and experience mine in many beautiful ways, and I believe my mission is to bring people together, to unify and find common ground in a world that is divisive and divided. There is something about music that brings people together on a deeper level than what words can achieve on their own. No matter who you are or where you’ve been, music has the power to unite even those who are the most at odds with each other. That call to something deeper I mentioned before? I firmly believe this project is the first step to answering that call.

This project will help me get my foot in the doorway of the music industry and propel me toward being able to achieve what has legitimately been a lifelong dream for me. I proclaimed as a seven year old, “I want to be a rockstar when I grow up!” This record is for that little girl with a dream bigger than anything she could have ever imagined.
