Overview

Hello world! We are Birds Already, a band here in the beautiful city of Boston, Massachusetts.

We’re a group of old friends who grew up to love great music. After reconnecting with each other in recent years, we noticed how similar our tastes in music were. Steely Dan, Vulfpeck, Fleetwood Mac, Emily King, D’Angelo, and Tom Misch were just a few on our radar of artists that we looked up to. After getting together to work on some original ideas, and channeling that musical influence that we all shared, we immediately agreed that forming Birds Already was the next logical step. Realizing that we have such a strong support system made up of friends and family, we began writing more original music to share with them. We quickly made it our routine to practice every week in order to hone our sound and tighten up our repertoire so that we could spread our wings and begin making our way onto the scene.

The music we’re creating is something we deeply believe in. We know our music is worthwhile and that people will love it. That said, we just need your help getting it out into the world!

We've got a collection of great songs ready to record -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA.

Mike is a Boston-based producer and engineer with 15+ years of experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, we’re digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Talk About It,” and you can check it out below!

While we were able to fund the recording process for "Talk About It" on our own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of the project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. We’ll start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album, hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements, and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change our lives.

Recording a full, professional quality album has, at times, seemed like an unfathomably distant goal to us. Right now, while the world is turned upside down, somehow that goal has come into our reach. We know it’s not easy, but we’re hoping for the help and generosity of you amazing humans in these times. People have always supported and kept each other going selflessly, and in times like these we often see love and generosity bloom in the most beautiful ways. When we make this album, it will be yours to keep. We just need a little help before we can bottle it up and send it out for mass consumption!

We’re already so thankful to all of our generous and supportive friends and families. They’ve supported us always and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them. Now, we’re excited to give back to everyone!

We’ve been hard at work composing new material since those humble beginnings, and we have fortunately already been able to release a couple of singles. But, like a brood of hatchlings begging for its next juicy worm, our fans need more! With your help, this project will allow us to meet those demands and release our debut album. We feel like this album will truly showcase our sound, which you can then listen to with headphones in a lossless format!
