Hello world! We are The Lucky Valentines and we’re a band from the beautiful city of Fort Benton, Montana.

 We have been writing and playing together for 16 years, and have independently released three full length albums over the course of that time. We are also life partners, raising 4 incredible kids together and trying to be an example to them that what brings each of us alive, is worth pursuing. Sharing our songs with our community of supporters is one of the great joys of our life. 

So often we are asked by folks “where can I find that song?” or “when are you guys going to make a new record?” and we have been trying to figure out how to best capture our unrecorded material. 

The opportunity to work with Plaid Dog is a chance to do that. A chance to create something really special to share with the world. A chance to work with professionals and breathe life into these songs in a beautiful way that we are hopeful will help us to continue to grow as artists and performers, and connect with other humans familiar and new.

When creating a record like this, costs add up quick; in order to make this project happen we are asking for help to finance the work.   

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating our new professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for our professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson  in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, the three of us are digging into our original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life.

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Magical” and you can check it out below!

While we've been able to fund the recording process for "Magical” on our own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of our project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  We will be crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

We truly believe that music is medicine, a connective force that allows us to feel and process so many facets of ourselves both as listeners and creators. We want to continue to write and share music with as many people as we can, for as long as we can. 

Putting out new music is part of the mechanics of how we do that reaching out, and your help allows us the opportunity to continue growing our reach and pushing toward our goal of being full time performers.
