Hello world! My name is LP Bailey and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Phoenix, AZ.

I’ve been making music and performing my entire existence. I grew up on everything from Sinatra to Slayer. Dad spun Elivs, Kenny Rogers , and The Animals. Mom listened to Barry Manilow and Olivia Newton John. My siblings' musical taste ranged from ACDC to Chicago, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, The Beatles, Grateful Dead. My first toys were drumsticks and piano keys. My first audience was anyone in attendance at the 8:45 Sunday mass. 

I’ve sung classic choral music in church choirs, performed in rock bands of all varieties: weddings, local bars, music festivals and local bars. I’ve played in backyards, porches and subways. 

I’ve poured everything I’ve learned about turning stories into songs. And now - the time has come for me to share the sounds in my head and my heart with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan s a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Hope Is The Hook,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for “Hope Is the Hook” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

Music has always been the place I turn. It has been the way I process joy, grief, survival, love, loss, and the strange beautiful moments that change us before we even realize we’ve been changed.

For a long time, my songs lived close to the chest. They were written in notebooks, played in quiet rooms, shared with small circles, and carried through seasons of my life where music was more than something I did — it is the way I live - it has held me together through every single trial. Now, for the first time, I am stepping into the process of making a record that reflects the depth of my songs, the road that brought me here, and the community that has been walking beside me.

This project is deeply personal. It is about healing. It is about survival. It is about finding language and the things we say. These songs come from real stories, real people, real moments, and real emotional ground. Recording them at Plaid Dog Records gives them the chance to become what I have always believed they could be: a body of work that reaches beyond me and meets someone else exactly when they need it. 

Making this record is not just about capturing songs in a studio. It is about building something lasting with a team of musicians, producers, engineers, listeners, supporters, and believers who understand that music can still matter in a very human way. It is about taking years of writing, dreaming, practicing, recovering, rebuilding, and refusing to give up — and turning all of that into an album we can say we made together.

I have spent my entire existence around music, but this moment feels different. This is the record I could not have made earlier. The car accident that destroyed my back and wrists left me unable to work as a chef. It made it impossible to fret a string instrument or play drums. Through these last 8 months of recovery - what did work - is pen and paper. That experience, that loss, that growth has led to an outpouring of writing. With your support, I will bring these songs into the studio at Plaid Dog Records and give them the care, musicianship, and emotional weight they deserve.

My hope is that this record becomes more than a collection of songs. I hope it becomes a reminder that even in our hardest chapters, something meaningful can still be made. That the things we survive can become songs. That these words I’ve written can become connection. That a record can begin with one artist’s story and become part of a much larger community.
