Hello world! My name is Jordan Hope and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Columbus, OH .

Growing up in Cleveland, music was a huge part of my life. I sang in choir, played the cello in orchestra, played piano and guitar, and most importantly got involved in musical theatre. Theatre sparked my love for performing and story telling and motivated me to continue exploring music more deeply. When I moved to Columbus for college I learned more about music theory, arranging, and production, which started me on the path to making original music and writing songs. I began attending and performing at open mics in the campus area as well as recording originals, and I am happy to say I have embedded myself into the Columbus music scene. I cannot wait to share the rest of these songs with you all, as my single is only the tip of the iceberg.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Ryan Gallagher in Boston, MA. Ryan is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Ryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Heavy,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Heavy” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts.  and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life and elevate my career. Many of these songs I’ve written and been sitting on for months or years, and I just have not had the time, ability, or funds to turn them into finished versions. With the help of Plaid Dog and with the support of my amazing community and network, I can achieve my dream of finishing these songs and sharing them with the world! The feeling of taking a demo and turning it into a finished product is so unique and amazing, and seeing it all come together with the help of my incredible collaborators is just like magic. Experiencing this process on the scale of a full length album will help me grow as a recording artist, songwriter, and musical collaborator.

Having a tangible body of work that I can share on streaming services and perform live will help me establish myself even stronger in my local music scene and beyond. Having a body of work that represents who I am as an artist that I can share with venues, festivals, booking agents, record labels, and more, could jumpstart my career in many ways. Additionally, albums are special because they tell a story that one song alone cannot. Releasing an album will not only help me develop my artist identity, sound, and style, but give my audience a stronger glimpse into who I am as a person, and allow them to resonate with my unique story.
