Hello world! My name is Hayden Wood and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Boston.

I have been a performer my entire life onstage playing roles and characters, however, more recently have I become invested in songwriting. What started out as a small idea bursted into an obsession with journaling throughout the day and far into the night–which has now led me here, to Plaid Dog. These songs are personal journal entries in a way, and sharing them with the world wasn’t ever the initial thought until I realized how validated I feel when I connect to a lyric of a chorus or relate to the instrumentals of an outro; what if someone feels the same when listening to my music? I finally feel at a place in my life where I have overcome many obstacles and am confident in sharing my music with all of you–and I could not be more excited!!
The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Mike Davidson in Boston, MA. Mike is a seasoned Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Mike and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “what has he done to me?” and you can check it out above!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "what has he done for to me?” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Mike and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

I could not put it into words how much this project means to me, and how much any and all support allows me to bring so many more ideas to life.

Music has always brought me comfort and allowed me to feel connected to something larger than myself. When I feel happy, I listen to music. When I feel sad, I listen to music. When I want to feel, I listen to music. It has always been an avenue for emotion and a part of my life that is so important–without music, what are we?

As I have grown as a songwriter and an artist, there is nothing I want more than to share my work with the world. What once felt vulnerable and concealed is now banging on its cage–literally, I finally feel confident enough in my own skin to still be vulnerable alongside allowing others to feel seen and heard.
