Because we’ve made so much amazing progress so quickly, I’m hoping to add a BONUS TRACK! Any contribution goes a long way to get us to Boston and make this album bigger and better than ever. Hello world! My name is Dan McCoy, and I'm a singer-songwriter here in the beautiful city of Willoughby, Ohio.

I’ve been making music and performing around northeast Ohio & beyond for most of my life, from my first public, paid performance at 14 with my middle school punk band, to opening for bands such as the Black Crowes, Wilco, Brooks & Dunn, and Austin Lucas & Jason Eady. I’ve recorded 10 projects and several singles. Music is my lifeblood. After pouring everything I’ve learned into songwriting, into stories, into harmony, the only thing left is to share the sounds in my head and my heart with all of you.

The material is ready, and the musicians are waiting -- this Plaid Dog campaign is the final step toward creating my first ever, professionally produced studio album.

This campaign is raising funds for my professionally recorded album with Bryan Fennelly in Boston, MA. Bryan is a Boston-based producer and engineer with experience working with both established and up-and-coming musicians. Together, Bryan and I are digging into my original material, writing arrangements, and reaching out to local musicians to bring the songs to life. 

We’ve been able to cover the costs of recording and producing one song, which is ready for you to check out right here on this page. This first song is called “Change of Venue,” and you can check it out below!

While I’ve been able to fund the recording process for "Change of Venue” on my own, to create an album of songs of this quality, studio costs add up quickly. With that said, this campaign can give us a unique opportunity to collaborate and make great art together. Your donation will cover the following costs of my project:

1. Pre-Production: This is where everything starts. Bryan and I will start crafting the arrangements for each song slated for the album. We’ll hold rehearsals to fine-tune the songs and arrangements and talk through new and exciting ideas for how to approach the recording process.

2. Recording: This is when we enter the studio and start capturing the music and where the songs become what you'll hear on this album. This campaign will play a huge role in making sure we have enough time to capture great performances for every member of the band.

3. Mixing & Mastering: Each track will get mixed to create the right balance between instruments, texture and color that make up a track. As a final step, the album will be mastered from beginning to end so that the listening experience is cohesive and carefully choreographed from start to finish.

It's hard to express how much this project would change my life.

Naming this album Snapshots seems appropriate, not only because it’s the title of one of the songs, but because the term itself encapsulates how I feel about this project. This, like all my albums & singles, is a snapshot of where I am right now on my musical journey. It will be fun as well as unnerving to work outside my comfort zone, and this EP will be a time capsule of that work. This is important to me because it shows my evolution as a songwriter, performer & recording artist.

I’ve received so much support from folks coming to shows and enjoying my music. I learn more with every show, and my songs are always evolving. With this new album, I’ll be able to continue to share my art with anyone that wants to listen as well as continue my growth as a musician, and it will be thanks to you and your support.
